About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Smithtown, Faraday's Of Smithtown is a warm and inviting American restaurant and bar that effortlessly blends classic comfort with refined flavors. Whether you’re seeking a laid-back pub vibe or a touch of fine dining, Faraday's delivers it all with a genuine, welcoming atmosphere that feels like a cozy neighborhood gathering spot.

Their menu is a treasure trove for lovers of hearty, thoughtfully crafted dishes. Start your culinary journey with their signature pierogies or the indulgent Mozzarella En Carozza, boasting a perfectly golden crust hugging melty mozzarella within. The French Dip Sandwich, served on a rustic ciabatta roll alongside savory au jus for dipping, is a standout choice that beautifully balances tender roast beef and melted Swiss cheese. For those who crave a little zest, the Chili with the Works, slow-cooked to rich perfection and topped with sharp cheddar, fresh tomato, onion, and fiery jalapeños, packs a flavorful punch that warms you from inside out.

If seafood is your preference, Faraday's impresses with elegant yet comforting dishes like Mixed Seafood Risotto, where pan-seared scallops and shrimp rest atop creamy asparagus risotto, or the Zuppa Alla Faradays—a spicy, vibrant medley of mussels, calamari, shrimp, and scallops served over linguini in a luscious red sauce. These selections showcase a skillful balance of fresh ingredients and bold flavors that linger pleasantly on the palate.

The gourmet burgers here are not to be missed either. From the Brit Burger with its marinated A1 sauce, cheddar, and crispy fried onions, to the half-pound Faraday’s Burger featuring all the classic toppings and fries, each bite is an explosion of texture and taste that perfectly complements their extensive bar offerings, including a curated selection of local and seasonal craft beers.

Faraday's also excels in atmosphere. Their outdoor patio has been lovingly described by guests as a “secret garden,” a tranquil oasis where you can savor your meal while basking in the fresh air and charming surroundings. Customers often praise the attentiveness and warmth of the staff, highlighting servers like Saylor and Heather whose friendly professionalism adds a personal touch to every visit. The presence of thoughtful details — like sanitizer bottles at every table and a dog-friendly policy — only enhances the feeling that you’re truly cared for here.

Faraday's Of Smithtown is more than just a restaurant; it’s a cherished local institution where every visit feels intimate and special. Whether you’re enjoying their prix-fixe three-course dinner deal paired with a glass of wine or relaxing with friends over beer-battered onion rings and crispy potato skins, the experience leaves you craving a return. It's no wonder regulars call it the "best kept secret in Smithtown," a place where timeless quality, excellent food, and heartfelt hospitality come together flawlessly.

First time at this restaurant and will definitely return. Loved the outdoor patio. Enjoyed the pre-fix 3 course dinner with a glass of wine [$21.95 - best deal around]. Saylor, our server, was friendly and knowledgeable. Loved that they had a bottle of sanitizer on every table.

We ate out back....beautiful patio area. My wife referenced it as the 'secret garden'. My Berlin Burger was excellent. Good pumpkin beer.

Smithtown’s restaurant scene can feel like a revolving door sometimes with so many ownership and name changes. So when a long-standing restaurant is still bringing their A-game with the same owners, a happy, engaged staff and the same great vibe year after year, it’s something special in this village. With more than 20 years in the same place, Faraday’s slogan says it all, “…when you just want good food.” They're being modest. There’s much more to this local gem than good food, and it reveals itself in stages. Walk in from Main Street, and you might be underwhelmed. Pretty much like any neighborhood bar/restaurant. Well-stocked bar with plenty of beer, wine and hard stuff to choose from, the friendly barkeep, a few tables near the bar and a pleasant dining room further back. And if you stop there, you’ve missed the best part – a hidden courtyard with outdoor tables and an enclosed “greenhouse” filling the narrow space between Faraday's and a dance studio. From the municipal lot behind the restaurant, you walk down a charming boardwalk into the courtyard. It may be a bit corny, but you don’t feel like you’re in Smithtown at that moment. Only a few restaurants in Smithtown have outdoor dining, and Faraday’s greenhouse has climate control to serve guests all summer long and well into the cold season - completely secluded from Main Street. And then there’s the food. Their slogan says “good” but I beg to differ. The menu has much more than you might expect for a local bar/restaurant, and to my surprise, the food is really outstanding. Regular choices, sprinkled with some creative versions of typical offerings. Burgers, paninis and sandwiches, pot pie, shepherd's pie, all the way up to steaks, seafood and chicken entrees. Lots of soup and salad options, and tons of appetizer choices. You might say my favorite dish is a bit unexpected. For all of their red meat, poultry and seafood selections, their Southwest BBQ Chicken Salad ($18) is absolutely epic. There’s so much going on, it takes 24 words to describe it on the menu. Fresh fried chicken, drizzled with BBQ sauce and served with ranch dressing on the side, garnished with corn, tomatoes, beans, tortilla chips and fried onion straws. It’s a huge portion and my absolute favorite for lunch or dinnertime (with enough for leftovers.) My wife tried the Oktoberfest prix fixe menu ($33) and absolutely loved her goulash. Tender beef, perfectly cooked noodles and a unique reddish sauce with peppers and other vegetables that gave the whole dish a special look and taste. It came with a nice house salad with fresh croutons and a choice of several appetizers (she had the baked clams.) The bread basket came with several piping hot slices of Italian-style bread – fresh, with a crunchy crust. My unsweetened iced tea tasted fresh-brewed and was delicious. Faraday’s knows what works for their clientele, they offer a remarkable range of selections and cook it superbly, at a fair price. The most expensive item on the dinner menu is the Bleu Bonnet – shell steak and shrimp scampi in one dish, for just $35. Everything else is in line with the local competition’s prices. Check out all the menus on their website. The service is just great – friendly, knowledgeable servers, easy smiles and the right attitude to be working at a local restaurant and bar. When my wife and I left, we heard no fewer than five “thanks for coming” farewells from the staff. With so many choices in Smithtown, Faradays’ still checks so many boxes for my family and friends. Great food, a unique outdoor dining setting, awesome service and fair prices. What more can you ask for?

I had lunch with my sister, brother and my two youngest kids, 11 and 14. Our server, Heather, was fantastic. The food was really tasty, I can't recall what everyone had bc we ate there a month ago but I wanted to write about my visit bc our server was just amazing. My daughter left her a message on a napkin. They are dog friendly too!
